Eleanor Would Have Been Proud
John Tiffany’s new book (more info/buy) on the life and times of fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert was celebrated last night with a party and book signing. And what a party it was! Some of the biggest names in fashion showed up to honor the memory of a lady who is a true icon of the fashion industry.
Eleanor had so many good friends, and many came to pay their respects including Dawn Mello, Joan Kaner, Etta Froi, Steven Kolb, Nadja Swarovski, Jody Donohue, Steven Stolman, Jeffrey Banks, and Fern Mallis. There were so many other familiar faces but whose names I just cannot remember. It really was a great turnout.
Speaking for myself, I remember with fondness those press luncheons Eleanor used to have each season in her Fifth Avenue apartment for members of the out-of-town press. It was served buffet style and we enjoyed eating her wonderful baked ham with all the trimings on our laps sitting in her living room. I always looked forward to those luncheons, as it was one of the most gracious moments during fashion week. I attended many of them over the years, and many of the same people would be back each season; it was like being with a group of old friends.
I really miss those times. Eleanor was a such a gracious host. I, for one, miss her.
