‘New York Fashion Week’ a Book by Eila Mell

The Designers, the Models, the Fashions of the Bryant Park Era

Published by Running Press; Hardcover $30

In this definitive pictorial biography of the shows, Mell’s book focuses on what’s been termed as the “Golden Era” of New York Fashion Week, the Bryant Park years from 1993-2010. Forwarded by Phillip Bloch, the 368 page book tells the story in pictures for each year, season by season with runway, backstage, front row and behind-the-scenes photos shot by two of the best photographers in the business – Randy Brooke and Roxanne Lowit.

Each season is divided into 4 sections: Trends, The Scene, New on the Scene & Fresh Faces. The book is also laced full of mini-interviews with everyone from Stan Herman, Ralph Rucci, James Aguiar, Edward Tricomi, to Barbara Berman, Robert Verdi, Narciso Rodriquez, and Maggie Rizer. The book is well researched and is extensively cross indexed. Everybody who was anybody during this period is included.
