The sight of two people who resemble Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in the same room, when no debate is scheduled, might come as a shock, if not for the fact that Halloween is only weeks away. The two people in question were wearing masks that the retailer, Party City, expects to be two of their biggest sellers this Halloween season. They were dressed to look like the two political titans as part of a fashion show during the Costumes & Cocktails event that Party City held in New York City. The event showcased costumes that the store chain believes will be the most sought after this year.

“Halloween is one of our favorite seasons,” said Party City Retail Group Vice President, Melissa Sprich, and the company has gone to great lengths to offer customers a wide range of Halloween options this year. In addition to politically themed costumes, Party City expects to see a lot of demand for superheroes, fantasy and literary characters and assorted pop culture phenomena, and many of these were featured in the fashion show at the event.

Captain America

Fans of Marvel’s Avengers series can dress as Captain America, complete with the Red, White and Blue Shield.

Alice in Wonderland

Characters from the classic story of Alice in Wonderland are portrayed in a playful collection of costumes that includes the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts and a Mix & Match Alice.

Peacock costume

For a glamorous look, spend Halloween night strutting around in this proud Peacock costume.

Pikachu costume

Almost everyone recognizes Pikachu from the uber popular, augmented reality game, Pokemon Go. This one piece, pajama style, Pikachu costume offers a more relaxed option for dressing up.
