“Super Bowled Over!”

The fall 2019 menswear and spring 2019 haute couture shows are behind us, and New York Fashion Week, which kicks off the fall/winter 2019 collections, begins on Monday. We are constantly being bombarded with so many images (and so much stuff) it’s easy to become jaded, if not completely numb. But it doesn’t mean that there are not some things that will invariably stand out. The following 14 items are an eclectic group priced from $40.50 to $7500, and from my point of view, they are all ‘Super’ in their own way.

As I am writing this, record breaking, bone chilling, subzero temperatures have dangerously plummeted across the country. Thankfully, there are toasty warm puffer coats and jackets to keep us warm. But none are as exceptional as Simone Rocha’s Elinor Down- Filled Hooded jacket, created in partnership with the latest Genius collaboration. Simone envisioned a “daring female mountaineer from the Victorian era, enveloped in a warm cloud of down and nylon laque” for this collection. Cut with balloon sleeves to a mid-length that falls just above the knee, it’s embellished with bead and sequin flowers alongside the French house’s logo on the chest and has all the air of haute couture. The waist ties elegantly cinch the silhouette and control the volume, $2565. Just fabulous!  More info/purchase

Off White For Riding Wellington Boots

Off-White “For Riding” Wellington Boots

Virgil Abloh’s round toe lace-up “For Riding” Wellington Boots are graphic, eye catching, and assuredly out of the ordinary. Made of sturdy rubber it features a thick rubber sole, and is accented with the brand’s signature red plastic tag. Regardless of the fact that this knee-high pair is printed along the side with white “FOR RIDING” lettering, they are also perfect for the rain, slush, or snow. The way I see it, if you’ve got to brave the elements, you might as well have fun and do it in style, $570. More info/purchase
