Shoppers at Bloomingdale’s New York City flagship store will find that the Grinch has taken up residence there for the holiday season. The arrival of the beloved holiday curmudgeon was celebrated on Monday night with a star-studded event that featured Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson as the master of ceremonies.

Crowds gathered on Lexington Avenue outside Bloomingdale’s, in spite of the intermittent rain, to see Thompson, and the unveiling of the store’s iconic holiday windows, which were inspired by Illumination and Universal Pictures’ new film, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch. The windows chronicle the lovable grouch as he transforms into a holiday icon. Thompson voices the character of Bricklebaum in the movie.

The evening’s entertainment also included two- time Billboard award-winning electric violinist, Lindsey Stirling. A former Dancing With The Stars finalist, Stirling performed selections from her Christmas album, while showing off some of her best dance moves. Actress Cameron Seely, who voices the character Cindy- Lou Who in the film, rounded out the evening’s festivities, singing holiday songs with Carolers in vintage dress. The merrymaking continued after the big window reveal, as shoppers were treated to in-store music and dance performances, as well as holiday sweet treats and even a virtual reality experience on Santa’s sleigh.

The windows invite onlookers to interact with the Grinch’s tale in various ways like showing their best resting Grinch face or singing Who-Ville Karaoke. Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch opens in theatres on Friday, November 9th. As they say at Bloomingdales, “fa la la la blah.”
