Carine ‘Watching’

Since everyone in the fashion industry seems to be so obsessed with Carine Roitfeld, and her personal style, I thought some of you might want to know that she paid two visits to Amarcord Vintage, one of my favorite shops, located at 84 east 7th street, within the last week. What did she buy? Some vintage Roberta di Camerino trompe l’oeil wallets (the shop ‘specializes’ in Roberta leather goods and clothing), a Ferre black top decorated with glitter, from the 80’s, and a leather jacket. The shop, which I have reported on in the past, is frequently visited by those in the fashion business, and of course, many well known designers. But I suppose the one designer you won’t see rummaging through the racks, is Geoffrey Beene, of whom Mary Lou Luther observed, “Geoffrey doesn’t know the meaning of retro, and he never looks back.”
