The international fashion world will converge at this exciting sale when important clothing, costume jewelry, fashion accessories and textiles from the world’s great designers go on the auction block. Couture highlights include two elaborate mantles, circa 1885, from the French designer Emile Pingat, a stenciled velvet caftan and a blue silk Peplos dress by Mariano Fortuny (est. $5,000–7,000), a legendary “Savage” wrap bathing suit designed by Halston in 1976, and two Rudi Gernreich Day Glo knit mini dresses with bikinis and booties which were featured on the cover of Time magazine in 1967. An extensive collection of opulent Miriam Haskell jewelry heads the costume jewelry selection. Unique and rare accessories include an Anne-Marie black suede telephone-shaped handbag, a four-piece custom set of Hermès luggage, and a rare Louis Vuitton thermos.
