VH1 “Save the Music Foundation” Gala Raises Over $1 Million

This exclusive concert event was held at the home of Julie and Billy Macklowe in Sagaponack on August 27, 2016 from 8:00 until 11:00 PM. The Macklowe family is renowned for their real estate empire and Julie and Billy have been long time supporters. Julie has also made a name for herself in the cosmetic industry with her extremely popular vbeaute line and recently appeared on Good Day New York discussing her entrepreneurial endeavors. Julie attributes her success to the discipline she acquired by playing the trombone in a marching band in high school which is why she became involved in the Foundation.

The Save the Music Foundation provides grants to public elementary and middle schools that do not have an instrumental program in place and 2.8 million children have directly benefited from the more than $52 million dollars worth of new musical instruments that have been purchased. This year’s theme was “Breezy Baja” and the food was provided by NY caterer Peter Callahan and featured special Bai cocktails by Bai beverages.

Steve Swarzman and Marc Leder

Julie called this the anti-Hamptons Hamptons party: with few speeches, lots of dancing, and finger food. The guest list was also highly eclectic with Housewife Ramona Singer, business mogul Marc Leder, model Jessica White, designer Michael Costello and many of Julie’s socialite friends part of the more than 500 people in attendance. The evening featured the superstar group Fifth Harmony who performed for almost an hour ending their set with the highly popular “Work From Home.”

Moreover, world famous DJ Cassidy played while Julie danced up a storm in her Valentino sequined shorts jumper with her lithe body reminding me to attend Pilates. As the evening concluded, it was announced that more than 1 million was raised-now that is something to sing about.
