Vicky Tiel’s Paris Journal: “Think Pink”

Vicky Tiel

My buttonless maxi wrap trench is a design I made with Mia Fonssagrives along with our mini wrap dress in the late sixties. Pure Mia-Vicky Paris. This trench is in hot pink silk taffeta and I pulled it out to wear to Paris this spring along with my pink poodle purse and a maxi lace skirt. I also have this trench in turquoise taffeta, leopard satin, and gold lame and I wear them all for the last 50 years. Timeless Fashion.

Valentino said it all in his latest Collection that I would call, « Think Pink ». AFTER COVID AND THE UKRAINE WAR, THE WORLD NEEDS A PICK ME UP WITH THE NEW HOT PINK SPRING FASHION ON THE PARIS STREETS. Valentino actually started his career when I met him in the sixties showing hot pink mini suits and he still knows the stroke.

The girl in the hot pink coat is a lift to the dark grey day. She’s pretty in pink and she makes us happy to see her walking in the dark gray antique streets of Paris popping out in such a happy color.

Ladies, whether it’s the shocking pink bag and shoes, the hot pink stockings were worn with your black leather miniskirt, the pink wool tweed Chanel suit ( with the shortest skirt ), the hot pink lips and nails, and the pink silk taffeta oversized sports jacket they all will send us to pink clouds in happy heaven.

The oversized brown furry coat, the brown midi length English trench, and the beige double-breasted coat with oversized buttons are all OVER. They were the most popular looks on Paris streets in the winter. Now it’s Electric Colors, especially Hot Pink.

Heads all turned as the cutest French couple of the Spring Season arrived at the Deux Magot’s new outdoor cafe in their chauffeured car, and she popped out in Chanel Pink.

Rochas opened a new store with the prettiest dress in Paris, in hot pink taffeta, all very happy fluff. It will stand out at a spring wedding or worn at the Grand Prix of Monte Carlo in May.

My favorite outfit for spring is the shiny pink jacket and wild floral skirt with a long train. It’s the happy hippy mode of the sixties, my favorite fashion moment. Note the beaded bad with the foot-long fringe. That’s a brand new fashion detail.

Fringe was big in the sixties and I made fringed suede mini skirts and matching bags making my first minis in Greenwich Village. Now 60´s fashion is back. Maybe the sixties mood of « Peace and Love » can return as well.

Knock-me-out accessories in beaded pinks and shocking colors are the new shoes and bags for spring. The designs at Isabel Marant are similar to high-end Circus costumes in shiny pastel iridescent leathers but super chic today where anything goes.

After a sober Brown Fashion Fall, this shop window is a sight for sore eyes. Now women can break loose and glam it up in electric colors.

The Paris trees all turned Spring Pink as I wrote this blog.
