‘Red Alert’

The noticeable absence of the Williams sisters at the U.S. Open (a winning team who can always be counted on for their thoroughly colorful, eclectic, and individual approach to dressing for the tennis court) has not meant there haven’t been any fashion statements this year.

Sure, there have been sightings of the traditional though boring all white garb, and the predictable -and not so edgy anymore- all black tennis outfits (as well as combinations of both ) on the guys and gals, but the ones who have really shined have been wearing red, proving that if you really want to stand out in a crowd, this is still the color of choice.

All red, or red in combination with white was seen on winners like third seeded Lindsay Davenport and 6th seeded Jennifer Capriati. And even though James Blake may have been defeated by 2nd seeded Roger Federer, he still looked every inch a winner, thanks to his red statement.
